Tackling Work & Play at Loftus Park, Pretoria
Arriving at the recently completed Loftus Park in the heart of Pretoria, is simply an awe-inspiring experience! Situated next to the renowned Loftus Versfeld Stadium - The Home of Blue Bulls Rugby.
Architects Studio 3 Design House, have seamlessly integrated a dynamic ‘sports’ culture into a mixed-use development that makes visitors feel part of the whole ‘Loftus’ experience. The use of bold design and forward thinking architecture has created a modern oasis for the city of Pretoria.
The masterfully designed P-Grade office buildings unfold into an open-air piazza filled with stunning sculptures, a water fountain and just about every amenity one could ask for. Cafe's, steakhouses, retail stores, a gym and luxury accommodation make for that 'one-stop-shop' feeling that leaves you coming back for more, time and again.
Naturally, when we first learned that our Winslot® Passive Sun Control Façade System, would be a part of this landmark project we were thrilled. The Architect's skillful use of the Winslot® System simply highlights the very best features of this cost effective, energy-efficient façade system.
The development has been accredited as a 4-Star Green Star building. To achieve the required energy efficiency levels, a major portion of the Western facades made use of the Winslot® System.
A noticeable feature is the long spanning Winslot® ‘Blades’, that the architects desired to ‘visually’ achieve, spanning a distance of 5.3 meters. We worked closely with the architects and engineers to create a ‘slimline’ vertical precast mullion, made up of two Winslot® Reveals with a steel member between.
This created enough support for the structural requirements over the 5 storey building height. Together with direct flush glazing and our light profile Winvent® sections, created functional and aesthetically pleasing facades.
The precast louvred Blades allowing a tremendous amount of ‘bounced’ light to penetrate deep into the interior spaces in the building.
