The Wykeham Collegiate School

The Wykeham Collegiate School is one of South Africa’s leading independent girls’ schools, situated in the picturesque suburb of Clarendon in Pietermaritzburg. The school aims to prepare pupils for the challenges of the real world. With this in mind, Durban-based Senior Architect Sydney Baillon, has overseen the beautiful buildings in which the school operates. He used the Winblok® Total Window System extensively in the original building of the school back in the 90's.

More recently he has made use of the visually striking Winslot® Passive Sun Control Façade System in the new Music and Teachers Centre. Sydney designed the new music centre in a hexagonal shape, enhancing the accoustic qualities of the internal spaces. The Winslot® System is an energy effecient system which allows the Architect a comprehensive fenestration solution, by strategic spacing of blades, depending on latitude and orientation of the building, the control of sunlight onto the facade and into the building envelope.

WINTEC® has been priviledged to be a part of these projects, and we believe that these beautiful buildings will be a place of inspiration to pupils for many years to come.
