A 600mm Modular Rapid Building Solution
“Walls you can see through™”, became a phrase that described Winblok® The Total Window System, the load bearing, modular concrete surround, with its attendant Winvent Aluminium glazed Window range. The introduction of Winblok® as a replacement to walls and windows helps modulate the sunlight, however presents a heavily sculpted appearance in the external façade.
The potential to ‘wrap’ the Winblok® load bearing wall with a finer ‘decorative solar’ screen on the external face; and to glaze the internal rebated face with the Winvent fixed or opening glazed inserts; presents a unique opportunity to “dress up” façades with a softer skin on the external load bearing envelope. This lends the architect an open flexibility allowing structural load, light and love; to wrap the building.

The full Winblok® Screen range
The Winblok® Screen is designed to suit the 600 x 600mm module Winblok® (WB66-260), manufactured from high strength, high density, low permeability, reinforced, precast concrete - cast in high quality moulds. The finished product has a smooth external facing 'offshutter' finish, and an internal struck face. Winblok® Screen may be painted or left untreated and is fixed to the Winblok® frame on site with Neutral-Cure Silicone.

Winblok® Squircle Screen
(WB66-SQS)
This screen, although an orthogonal grid in origin, presents as an organic ‘bone like’ softened grid, neither square nor circle, a Squircle. A softer and quieter rhythmic façade is generated in a continuous wall of these screens.
Winblok® Nest Screen
(WB66-NS)
Taking a cue from the ‘Birds Nest’ Beijing Olympic building, we have designed an asymmetric fractal screen that may be fitted in a single or random orientation, generating subtle variations in the progression across the façade.
Winblok® Louvre Screen
(WB66-LS)
The louvre screen draws on the more conventional shutter aesthetic if fitted in the horizontal format. However, it may also be fitted vertically (say on east or west façades) or used to orientate the view from within in a particular direction. This screen is better suited to act as a rain screen in its horizontal format, as it has a continuous drip along the top edge.
Winblok® Solid Screen - Plain
(WB66-SSP)
The Solid Screen - Plain, presents an opportunity to ‘blank out’ the façade where necessary, resulting in a standard wall panel. With its external facing, smooth off-shutter concrete finish, it creates a familiar modern concrete look.
Winblok® Solid Screen - Timber
(WB66-SST)
The Solid Screen - Timber is inspired by 'timber off-shutter concrete architecture'. Timber engrained solid concrete screens, allow for blanking out the façade, with a randomly designed ‘timber off-shutter’ look. Place them vertically, horizontally, or alternatively.

Winvent® Top Hung
The aluminium Top Hung projecting out Winvent® is supplied factory glazed (silicone flush glazing), 4mm Float Glass as standard. Manufactured from aluminium extruded sections, which are epoxy powder coated finished. The handle is Injection Moulded, Glass Fiber Reinforced PA 6 Nylon in black. Weather seals are wool pile. The sliding friction stays are in 304 stainless steel.
All glass types may be specified for Winvent. Architect to specify appropriate glass type required per project. Fly screens and burglar bars may be factory fitted as additional accessories.

Winvent® Fixed Frame
The aluminium fixed frame Winvent® is designed to match the opening Winvent® Top Hung. Manufactured from superior quality aluminium extruded sections. It is supplied factory glazed (silicone flush glazing), 4mm Float Glass as standard.
All glass types may be specified for Winvent. Architect to specify appropriate glass type required per project. Burglar bars may be factory fitted as additional accessories.

Winvent® Fixed Direct Glass
We have developed one of the most cost-effective ways to allow light into the building. A pane of glass (no aluminium) is directly installed into the glazing rebate of the Winblok® frame using our Neutral-Cure Silicone.
As a standard we supply 4mm Toughened Safety Glass (TSG) for the Fixed Direct application, as we have found that the TSG types of glass are most resistant to cracking when applied directly into the Winblok® Concrete Frame. Cracking of glass in the Fixed Direct Application is caused by expansion and contraction of different materials, as the glass is not 'protected' by an aluminium housing. Float and Laminated Glass types do not perform well when used in the Fixed Direct application. The Architect is to specify the glass type required.
Winvent® Central Pivot
The aluminium central pivot Winvent®, designed for high level pole action with a pull ring spring catch, is supplied factory glazed (silicone flush glazing), as a standard we supply 4mm Toughened Safety Glass (TSG) for this application. It is manufactured from aluminium extruded sections which has an epoxy powder coated finish. Weather seals are wool pile and the centre pivot hinge is a nylon friction bearing.
Due to the nature of this window type, we recommend Toughened Safety Glass (TSG) for this application. Burglar bars may be factory fitted as additional accessories.

Winvent® Bottom Pivot
The Bottom Pivot Winvent® inward opening is designed to be used where projecting out, or a Central-Pivot Winvent®, may be inappropriate. This Winvent® is supplied with a pull ring spring catch and comes factory glazed (silicone flush glazing), as a standard we supply 4mm Toughened Safety Glass (TSG) for this application. It is manufactured from aluminium extruded sections which are epoxy powder coat finished. Weather seals are wool pile. The Bottom Pivot is set 100mm from the bottom and has a ‘stop’ attached to limit the opening width.
Due to the nature of this window type, we recommend Toughened Safety Glass (TSG) for this application. Burglar bars may be factory fitted as additional accessories.

Winvent® Flyscreen*
The Flyscreen for the Winvent® is manufactured from an aluminium extrusion frame into which a fibre mesh is secured with a rubber gasket. It is top hung on the frame with glass-reinforced nylon hinges and opens inwards secured by a catch.
*The Flyscreen is only available as a factory fitted item.

Winvent® Glazed Louvre
The Winvent® Glazed Louvre provides an opening window where projecting out, Central-pivot or Bottom-pivot Winvent® are impractical. An aluminium louvre blade mechanism is mounted in an aluminium Winvent® frame. The blade mechanism and frame are epoxy powder coated. As a standard we supply 5mm Float Glass for this application. Glazed Louvres may be used for ventilation in conjunction with Winblok® Winguard or special burglar bars in high security applications.
The Winvent Glazed Louvre has been discontinued and is no longer available.
Winvent® Fixed Louvre
The Winvent® aluminium fixed louvre provides permanent fixed ventilation for squash courts, switch rooms, ventilation ducting and other similar applications. They will not totally exclude entry of wind driven rain. Aluminium Fixed Louvres are manufactured from extruded aluminum louvre blades carried on tubular mullions and mounted in an aluminium Winvent® frame.

Winvent® is SANS-10400XA & SANS 613 Compliant
Our Winvent® Top-Hung and Fixed-Frame windows are compliant with both SANS 10400-XA (energy performance) and SANS 613 (air and water filtration/penetration).
We are able to provide the Simulated Energy Performance Rating Certification for all design permutations using the Winvent® Inserts in the Winslot® System on request – confirming compliance with SANS 10400-XA simulation and calculations according to National Fenestration Rating Council(NFRC) and ISO standards.
Winblok® Screen Application
The Winblok® cross-section has a glazing rebate on one face and a sloping soffit, reveals, and sill towards the ‘struck face’. We envisage that the best application of the Screens will be over the Winblok® System where the struck face is facing the exterior and the glazing rebate is on the inside face of the building. In this way, rain water that penetrates through the Screens will run off the bottom sloping sill, towards the exterior.
It also follows that the opening Winvent® sashes may open into the cavity behind the Winblok® Screen. All the Screens are designed to fit over the face of the Winblok® - not into them. Here the Screens present a primary face with the Winblok® concrete surround, taking a secondary structural role recessed behind the Screens.

Winblok® Screen 'Retrofit' Compatibility
We have also seen the opportunity to fit Screens over Winblok® WB66-260 (590x590x260mm) in existing buildings. Only applicable where the glazing rebate is on the inside of the building and the sill, with it’s ‘struck face’ is on the outside. A cost effective way of giving a face lift and modulating the interior privacy and light.
