Sun Control using Winslot® 5 Brick Course Application during Summer Solstice at various latittudes

Winslot® is a permanent shading feature which is fully integrated into the structure of a building. The 5 brick course ratio between the P value of 267mm, and the H value of 437mm, produces a shading outcome of 61.1 %.

This results in the fenestration element achieving SANS 10400-XA shading compliance at all South African latitudes, within all the optimal orientation sectors (West, North-West, North, North-East and East) reducing the need for costly high glazing specifications.

Summer Solstice

As indicated in the sectional illustrations, the Winslot thermal insulated precast concrete blade allows for bounced light to enter the building during the hot summer months, without limiting the desirable winter solar gains.

Winter Solstice

As indicated in the sectional illustrations, the Winslot thermal insulated precast concrete blade allows for direct light to enter the building during the cold winter months, while limiting the solar exposure during the hot summer.
